Conservative candidate, John Dwyer, has been elected as Cheshire's next Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

Dwyer obtained 44.55 per cent of the first preference vote, while closest opponent and current PCC, David Keane, received 37.28 per cent.

In PCC elections, if no one candidate gains more than 50 per cent of the first choice votes, all but the top two candidates are eliminated and the second preferences are then counted.

Dwyer received 12,397 of the second preference votes, with Labour candidate Keane receiving 16,134. This meant that Dwyer finished with a total of 111,962 votes, compared to Keane's 99,463.

Keane has served as Cheshire's PCC since 2016. This will be the second time that Dwyer takes on the role, following his election as Cheshire's first PCC in 2012.

In this election, 14.47 per cent of those who voted opted for Liberal Democrat Jo Conchie as their first choice, with 3.69 per cent choosing Reform UK's Nicholas Goulding.
