Christmas and Covid: What you are allowed to do on Christmas Day

Local News by The Editor 24th Dec 2020

Although Cheshire will be entering Tier 3 on Boxing Day, 'Christmas bubble' rules will still apply on Christmas Day for local residents.

This means that people from Frodsham and Helsby can meet with up to two other households in each other's homes, in a place of worship or in any outdoor space. Overnight stays are only allowed if absolutely necessary.

While people living in England have been told to only visit Wales as part of an 'essential' journey now that the country has entered Level 4 restrictions, on Christmas Day, travel across the border will be permitted.

You cannot meet with anyone who is currently under English Tier 4 restrictions, as no one is allowed to travel to or from these areas.

Although three households will be able to meet on Christmas Day, the government is advising people to 'stay local', and has said that Christmas bubbles are not allowed to go to the pub together.

Those who are self-isolating cannot join a Christmas bubble. Equally, if anyone from a Christmas bubble tests positive within 48 hours of Christmas Day, everyone must isolate.
