Construction work on the walk-in Covid-19 testing centre at the back of Frodsham Leisure Centre, which was due to open in the next few days, has been abandoned.

Cheshire West and Chester Council informed Frodsham Town Council that the entrance road was flooded by this week's heavy rain, and that the contractor had said that the site was not suitable.

They are now looking for alternative sites which may be able to house the Frodsham testing centre.

Cheshire West and Chester hope that the introduction of this facility will bring increased testing capacity to the area by enabling residents to access a test without having to drive.

The new Ellesmere Port testing site, located in a car park on Wellington Road, opened on Friday 30th October.
