Eligible Frodsham residents could get help with their bills during the cold weather with a one-off grant payment.

The government's Winter Grant Scheme, which is being distributed by Cheshire West and Chester Council, helps families who have been severely affected by the pandemic to pay for essentials such as food, fuel and water bills.

Eagerly awaited and already hugely popular, Bene Gelateria is on a mission to bring real Italian gelato to the people of Frodsham.

"It was something I'd always wanted to do," says owner, Aaron Gill, whose interest in gelato was sparked by twenty years of Italian holidays.

This year, St Laurence's online Christingle service will be available to watch on Facebook or on the church website, at 5pm on Christmas Eve.

Those watching are also invited to make their own Christingle, and can find instructions in the above YouTube tutorial video.

Today, Sunday 13th December, is the first day of the rail industry's altered winter timetable, which involves some changes to trains serving Frodsham and Helsby.

On the Chester to Manchester Airport line, there will still be an hourly Transport for Wales service, which will leave Chester around 10 to the hour.

Susan Gilby, the boss of the Countess of Chester NHS Trust, has urged Cheshire West residents to take up the opportunity of getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

Speaking at a meeting of CWAC's outbreak board on December 9, the health chief said that the hospital was currently vaccinating roughly 250 people per day, and was expecting to take delivery of 975 vaccine doses on Friday (December 11).

Although this year's festive season is looking very different in many ways, Frodsham residents will still be able to celebrate Christmas with St Laurence's online Christingle service.

Councillors have approved a move to 'develop a policy' on trail hunting on Cheshire West-owned land.

The motion was approved at a feisty full Council meeting 39-23.
