Frodsham takes to the polls!

Today, Thursday 6 May, is the big day. English local elections that had been postponed last year due to Covid-19 are now taking place, with votes for 143 councils and 39 Police and Crime Commissioners.

In Frodsham, residents are voting for a new Police and Crime Commissioner and town councillor for Waterside ward.

Royal British Legion

As the Royal British Legion nears its centenary on 15 May, branches across west Cheshire have been busy preparing a '100 Miles for 100 Years' fundraising event.

In Helsby, Poppy Appeal Organiser Fiona Purcell has planned a 4.5 mile walk which loops round the War Memorials of Alvanley and Helsby while soaking up the sights of our local landscapes. A booklet detailing the route can be obtained from the Old Bank Tea Rooms on Chester Road, for a suggested donation of £1.

The countdown is on for tomorrow's local elections, during which Frodsham residents will have the chance to vote for Cheshire's next Police and Crime Commissioner, as well as a Frodsham ward councillor and a town councillor for Waterside ward.

The candidates for Police and Crime Commissioner are Liberal Democrat Jo Conchie, John Dwyer for the Conservative Party, Nick Goulding for Reform UK and Labour's David Keane.

As well as elections for a Frodsham ward councillor at Cheshire West and Chester Council, and a Waterside ward councillor for Frodsham Town Council, on May 6 local residents will be invited to vote for Cheshire's Police and Crime Commissioner.

This election was due to take place in May 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
