FRODSHAM: The leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council has issued a cautious welcome to the Chancellor's budget, but warned 'the devil is in the detail'.
Rishi Sunak delivered his autumn budget and spending review earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) where he announced £4.8 billion for local government, which he said was "the largest increase in core funding for over a decade".

To celebrate National Allotment week and 11 years since the opening of Frodsham Townfield Allotments, we are having an Open Day on Saturday 14th August from 12 pm till 4pm to raise awareness of the beauty of allotments and to raise much needed funds.
Committee member Mark Pinnington and his wife Jane want to thank all the local business for supporting our Open Day by donating fantastic raffle prizes. A big shout out to Cowards, Bargain Booze, Lusso Hair and Beauty, Paul the barbers, Whitmore and Whyte, Cheeky Ice Cream, Gleaves Garden Centre and Tesco Helsby & Widnes. Morrisons, Tesco, and Asda have also very kindly provided all the food for our barbecue on the day.

After an absence due to the Covid pandemic last year the annual Frodsham Downhill Run will again take place to coincide with the Frodsham's Festival in the Park on Sunday 29 August.
As usual the run will start at the Memorial on Frodsham Hill at 12.30pm and will finish in front of Castle Park House, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles.
On Monday 2 August, Whitehall Place and Withy Close will be closed for approximately two weeks.
This is to allow for BT Openreach to carry out ducting work on the road.
