Louise Gittins commented on the decision to put Cheshire into Tier 3

Cheshire West and Chester will move into Tier 3 from Saturday, 26th December, after a government review of the borough's high infection rate showed that restrictions were needed to suppress the spread of Covid-19.

Households must not mix indoors or in most outdoor places, with an exception for support bubbles. A maximum of six people can meet in some outdoor public spaces such as parks and public gardens but not private gardens.

There were 16 new cases in Frodsham in the week leading up to 16th December.

In the same week that a new coronavirus variant began spreading rapidly in parts of London and the South East, Frodsham's infection rate also increased by over 100%.

During the seven days leading up to December 16th, there were 16 new cases recorded in Frodsham, an increase of nine on the previous week. This put the town's rolling rate at 174.5 per 100,000 of the population.
