Frodsham Town Council has approved its budget for the coming year.

This week, Frodsham Town Council approved its budget recommendations for the coming year (2021/22), placing particular emphasis on our green spaces, as well as tentative plans for a post-Covid community event.

A total of £6,500 will be allocated to developing and delivering this idea, along with £1,500 for the Festival of Walks, £1,000 for Halloween, £10,000 for Christmas celebrations and £5,000 for New Year's Eve.

The Marshes Community Benefit Fund are now taking applications for grants

The Marshes Community Benefit Fund (MCBF) is now inviting local groups and causes to apply for their share of a £60,000 grant.

The MCBF welcomes applications from both 'innovative and established' projects. Some organisations that benefitted from the last round of grant payments included: Alvanley and Manley Pre School, Frodsham Allotments, Helsby Community Sports Club and The 4th Frodsham Scout Group.

Cheshire West, Cheshire East, Warrington and Halton Councils have criticised the government's handling of lockdown school closures in a letter outlining their views on the current coronavirus restrictions and vaccine roll-out.

In the letter, the Council leaders wrote: "The process for partial closure of schools was chaotic and poorly communicated by government, leaving our school staff, parents and pupils to deal with a terrible conflict between the education of children and the protection of public health.
