Cheshire local government adviser, Jackie Weaver, is urging people to sign a national petition pressing the Government to amend legislation to enable Councillors to be disqualified or suspended for breaching relevant Codes of Conduct.
She says she is "stunned" that only just over 5,800 signatures have been collected so far for the petition which Jackie helped launch and which she says is vital to the future of local councils if we are to continue attracting people to serve their community.

Frodsham's Weaver Words Festival will be opening this year with an evening with multi award-winning British poet, writer and broadcaster, Michael Symmons Roberts.
Michael is the author of eight poetry collections, four books, dozens of Radio 4 dramas and feature and a BBC 4 verse film called Men Who Sleep in Cars, described by The Observer as "a work of genius".

Cheshire West and Chester Council leaders are feeling cautiously optimistic following a recent drop in case numbers, although they are still urging all unvaccinated residents to get their first dose as soon as possible.

The successful local litter picking group, the Frodsham Wombles has now acquired a Helsby-based relative.
The Helsby Wombles, which was established this week, has been set up to organise voluntary litter picks in and around the village, so keeping its streets neat and tidy while also promoting local community spirit.

A nursery in Dunham-on-the-Hill has thanked the local community for its support ahead of its move to Helsby Methodist Church Hall.
Teddies on the Hill, which is run by Liz Middleton and Katie Millichap, has been housed at the Boshaw Centre for the past four years, in which time it has forged strong ties with the local community.
