Cllr Dawson is leaving Frodsham to take up a post in the Falkland Islands Government

Town and borough councillor for Frodsham, Cllr Andrew Dawson, has bid farewell to the town ahead of his move to work for the Falkland Islands Government.

Cllr Dawson's resignation from Cheshire West and Chester council will take effect at the close of tonight's (Thursday 22nd October) full Council meeting, after which he will assume his new post as the Falkland Islands' Head of Legal Services.

Ho Ho Helsby is being forced to celebrate Christmas in a different way this year

With coronavirus restrictions preventing gatherings of more than six people outdoors, the Ho Ho Helsby Working Group has been forced to cancel this year's event.

So, eager to keep the Christmas spirit alive, Ho Ho Helsby's organisers are instead inviting residents to 'Stay Safe, Decorate, Light Up Helsby', in a bid to inject the village with some sparkling festive cheer.

Frodsham's coronavirus rate sat at 226.03 last week.

Yesterday (19th October), 116 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Cheshire West, as the Council vowed to 'turn things around' and bring the borough back into tier 1.

In the week leading up to Sunday October 18th, there were 700 new infections in west Cheshire. However, the borough's hospitals have recorded no new coronavirus deaths since October 14th.
