A new £1.6 million housing development on Springfield Avenue in Helsby is now underway.

The project, which will provide 11 new homes, including two and three-bedroom properties for affordable rent, is being delivered by Weaver Vale Housing Trust and M & Y Maintenance and Construction.

Planning permission to redevelop the site, which was formerly occupied by a 19-bedroom sheltered accommodation unit, was granted in July 2020.

The works, which were scheduled to begin in November 2020, are expected to reach completion in November 2021.

Rob Burgess, Construction Manager at M&Y, said: "This is a fantastic project that will provide much-needed quality homes for families in Cheshire.

"We are looking forward to working closely with Weaver Vale Housing Trust as part of this exciting new partnership."

Jo Fallon, Assistant Director of Development, from Weaver Vale Housing Trust said: "It forms part of an ambitious development programme for the Trust which will see us deliver over 450 new homes across the region over the next three years.

"We continue to be committed to providing high quality, sustainable homes for local people and creating vibrant communities."
