A new Cheshire West and Chester Council film which looks back over the borough's response to Covid-19 has celebrated the achievements of a mother and daughter team from Manley, who have raised thousands of pounds for local NHS workers over the course of the pandemic.
Zan Stanton and her daughter Evie, who was only nine years old at the time, spent the first lockdown creating rainbow decorations to sell to local people, diversifying into wooden snowmen, Santas and reindeers over Christmas.
With the money raised, they were able to offer gifts to healthcare workers in our area, as a thank you for their tireless work during the pandemic.
In the video, Zan says: "We stayed at home isolating, and that's how we started doing the fundraising, because we wanted to make good use of our time.
"We've got a lot of elderly neighbours on our street and we started making little rainbows for them, with loom bands and cotton and things and they loved them.
"So then someone said: "You should sell these." It just blew up from there. In two weeks we raised £2,000."
How lovely to see Zan and Evie's great work recognised!
