At 6pm this evening (Wednesday), through the noise of cars passing by, one could hear Frodsham's residents step outside to clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Captain Tom, a World War Two veteran, raised over £30 million for NHS charities last year by walking around his garden, just ahead of his 100th birthday.

He died yesterday, having contracted Covid-19.

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, led the minute-long applause for this 'inspirational' Covid hero.

Today, he told the Commons: "We all now have the opportunity to show our appreciation for him and all that he stood for and believed in.

"That is why I encourage everyone to join in a national clap for Captain Tom and all those health workers for whom he raised money at 6pm this evening."
