Christmas in Frodsham's Michelle McNulty gives a sneak preview of all the festive fun you can look forward to this year!
With the ongoing Covid restrictions this year we knew we were going to be unable to run the Frodsham Christmas festival in its usual form.
So, the Christmas in Frodsham volunteer elves busied themselves coming up with ideas and creating content which, hopefully, enables us to engage with the whole community, puts lots of smiles on lots of little faces and spreads some festive cheer!
It's a year when we all certainly need it!
It has been a steep learning curve for the volunteer team – instead of figuring out physical logistics for a parade, we have had to learn how to create online content, which is very different to our day jobs!
We have a whole month of activities planned, from ticketed zoom sessions with Father Christmas, to virtual workshops, a music day, pub quiz, a reindeer trail, virtual market place, thought of the day each Sunday in association with Frodsham's churches, plus much, much more.
We hope everyone enjoys tonight's virtual light switch on: we were very lucky to have Frozen's Elsa (aka Georgia Merry from Little Princess Parties) there. With the help of Frodsham's younger residents, Elsa was able to channel their power to magically switch the lights on!
Father Christmas also facetimed to say how much he liked the lights! The Christmas festival volunteer elves wanted to reflect the rainbow theme which has been so prominent this year.
Rainbows are used as a symbol of peace and hope as they often appear when the sun follows a heavy rainfall.
They serve to remind us that there is hope and light to follow, even after dark times. We hope the traditional streetlights, combined this year with a matching tree, cheer everyone up as they pass by whilst also offering this important message of hope.

Special thanks to all of the local businesses & organisations who are supporting with online events: Artisan Green, Frodsham Youth Association, Kash22, That's a Wrap Cheshire, Travellers Rest, Frodsham Panto, Frodsham Players, as well as all of Frodsham's churches and local primary schools!
