Amateur musical theatre society, The Zodiac, have been forced to postpone their performance of Flashdance: The Musical, following the introduction of new, more stringent Covid-19 restrictions.
The show, which will be the amateur premier of Flashdance, was due to take place in April 2021.
However, with in-person workshops, auditions and rehearsals off the cards after last night's announcement, this is no longer possible, and a new performance date has not yet been decided.
Based on the 1983 movie of the same name, Flashdance tells the story of steelworker, Alex Owens, as she auditions for the prestigious Shipley Academy to follow her dream of becoming a professional dancer.
The Zodiac society, established in 1968, have staged their own productions of dozens of famous musicals, including Oklahoma!, Carousel, Kiss Me Kate, Guys and Dolls, Legally Blonde and Hairspray.
In January, the society was honoured with a 'Services to Inspiring Musical Theatre' award, given for their hard work and dedication to local amateur theatre by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).
