Tomorrow, Monday 17 May, Step 3 of the government's roadmap out of lockdown will come into effect, meaning that Frodsham's hospitality venues can welcome customers back into their indoor spaces, with some reopening their doors for the first time since Christmas.

Inside these pubs, restaurants and cafés, groups of up to six people from different households, or larger gatherings of a maximum of two households, will be able to socialise, without having to order a substantial meal with an alcoholic drink.

The 10pm curfew will not be making a return, but customers must remain seated while they order, eat and drink.

Along with indoor hospitality, cinemas, theatres, children's play areas, hotels and indoor adult group sports and exercise classes will also be reopening.

This means that Frodsham Leisure Centre will once again be hosting Brio Cycle and Brio HIIT sessions, while Helsby Community Sports Club introduce new activities such as Sweaty Mama workouts and Boxercise.

The government will allow some larger performances and sporting events in indoor venues with a capacity of 1,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number), and in outdoor venues with a capacity of 4,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number).

In the largest outdoor seated venues, where crowds can be spread out, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend (or a quarter-full, whichever is lower).

Meanwhile, outdoors, most legal restrictions on meeting others will be lifted, with gatherings of up to 30 people allowed. Six people or two households will also be allowed to see each other inside their own homes or other indoor spaces.

For the first time in months, these meet-ups will come with permission to hug your friends and loved ones.

Meanwhile, in secondary schools such as Helsby High School, pupils will no longer be required to wear face coverings in the classroom.

Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions and wakes, as well as funerals. This limit will also apply to other types of significant life events including bar mitzvahs and christenings.
