Covid restrictions might have ruined your Christmas holiday plans, but do not despair! Cheshire West's Museums have a range of exhibitions and activities on offer, which the whole family can enjoy.

Chester

The Tiger Who Came to Tea exhibition at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester will delight the younger members of the family with its mini tiger Christmas display and tiger gifts available in the shop.

The exhibition, brought into being by Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children's Books, is supported by Arts Council England and has been extended until Sunday 28th February.

Northwich

Children can also follow the clues on the Christmas Crystal Trail at the Lion Salt Works, Northwich.

The first 100 children to book will find that Father Christmas has left a gift for them. There is a winter projection on 19th and 20th December on the exterior wall at the Salt Works, to add some extra festive sparkle.

The season of food and salt continues with 'A Brine Romance: Salt and Food', which has recently been supplemented with salt-inspired ceramic and glass art works, created by HND Fine and Applied Art students from Warrington & Vale Royal College.

At Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, you can also find the Visual Art Cheshire Winter Open exhibition, which is a varied display of selected work by local artists.

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: "It's fantastic that our museums are open with such a varied selection of exhibitions and things for the family to look out for.

"They are a great place to get those last-minute unique gifts as part of your trip out."

All museums will be closed between 24th and 28th December and on 1st January.

For opening times, Covid measures and telephone bookings, please visit the CWAC Museums website.
