I love how this old picture of Frodsham High Street captures a single moment in the progress of dozens of different journeys.

Stretching between Rodgers Tailor's Shop and the Ship Street junction, the image takes in the rich bustle of businesses and people that made up one of Frodsham's many past lives.

Where are the lady and her dog off to? And what events lie behind the policeman's purposeful stride?

Around this time, Frodsham's High Street was also home to the George Inn, which had been around since at least 1911, at which time its landlord was a gentleman called Edmund Coker according to The Lost Pubs Project.

The building has for some years now been home to Frodsham Tandoori, which recently reopened its indoor spaces following the easing of lockdown on May 17!

Do you have any memories from Frodsham in the mid twentieth century? Please don't hesitate to email [email protected] if you have stories you would like to share!

Many thanks to Frodsham and District History Society for use of the photograph
