Remembrance Day in the age of coronavirus: Frodsham Town Council plan around government's rule of six

Frodsham Town Council are in the process of organising 2020's Remembrance Day commemorative event, knowing that it will be rendered unrecognisable by the Covid-19 pandemic.
At a meeting of the Events Committee yesterday, councillors agreed that it would be near impossible to arrange any sort of event with more than six people present.
Normally, there would be services and wreath laying ceremonies at Frodsham Hill War Memorial and the cenotaph outside St. Laurence Church.
However, if such commemorations were to go ahead this year, it would be difficult both to control the number of attendees, and to collect their contact details for track and trace reasons.
The Council are therefore discussing the possibility of a staggered wreath laying, perhaps accompanied by a virtual service from Frodsham's vicar, the Reverend Elaine Atack, which could be streamed online.
With no sign of any light at the end of Covid's long tunnel, Frodsham's annual Christmas and New Year celebrations are also looking unlikely, as any type of community event would surely go against the rule of six.
However, the Council is now hoping to spend the money they might have used for a lights switch on new decorations for Frodsham's streets, in order to make the town look as bright and pretty as possible.
