Mike Amesbury says he will oppose any plans that would lead to the closure of Frodsham Leisure Centre.

The Frodsham MP has raised his concerns with the head of Brio Leisure and is also urging residents to have their say on a public consultation over its future.

Mike said: "There's no doubt that the current facilities are in need of investment, something I have repeatedly raised with Brio Leisure.

"But I do not support any attempt by Brio Leisure to completely withdraw the facilities.

"Although dated, the current facilities have served at the very heart of the community providing access to a wide array of sports, social clubs, library and also home to the Will to Work Workshop.

"One thing we have seen demonstrated throughout the COVID outbreak is the need to encourage people to become active and promote healthier lifestyles.

"Local leisure facilities will form an essential role in the recovery process and the populous of the Frodsham Area deserves access to class-leading facilities."

He added: "The current proposals put forward are now open to public consultation and I would encourage as many residents as possible to have their say before the closing date on 1st November."
