Last chance to visit Castle Park Arts Centre's Open Exhibition before lockdown!

Castle Park Arts Centre's Open Exhibition has opened early to allow the public to view it before lockdown begins on Thursday.

You therefore only have one more day to visit, so don't delay!

Ranging over a huge variety of styles, media and subjects, this exhibition has been formed from the work of amateur and professional artists from across our region.

Using collage and felt work, watercolour, acrylic and ink, the pieces journey across the world, reflecting a rich collection of people, places and encounters.

From amidst the calming paintings of mountain, sea and cityscapes, startlingly familiar portraits of figures as diverse as Captain Jack Sparrow and Jürgen Klopp smile back at your wondering gaze.

Meanwhile, in between pleasing images of the familiar streets of Frodsham, a solitary llama reaches out of its frame, as if to sniff its viewer.

Each and every piece is beautifully expressive, and allows for a momentary escape from the confinement of our current situation.

However, our personal favourite is the misty landscape of On Halkyn Mountain by Patricia Phillimore, whose wistful blue hills are offset by a brilliant amber sun.

If you read Frodsham Nub News's articles about multimedia artist Sue Marsden and painter John Graven, you might be pleased to know that some of their work is also displayed at the exhibition for you to view!

The exhibition will be open from 10am – 4pm tomorrow, before the Arts Centre closes from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December (date subject to change if lockdown is extended).

If you can't visit the exhibition tomorrow, don't worry! Castle Park will be posting updates and images of the artwork on display on Facebook, Instagram and their website, to whet your appetite for their reopening.

You can also click through our gallery of images at the top of this article.

All of the artwork on display is for sale. Anybody interested in purchasing any of the exhibits should email Kim at [email protected] for further information or to make a reservation.
