Frodsham Town Council have agreed to set aside £10,000 for professional assistance in outlining and costing potential plans for the future of Green Gates Park.
Speaking at yesterday's Frodsham Town Council meeting, Cllr Helen Hayes reported the decisions of a recent Options Appraisal Working Group meeting on September 24th, which narrowed the fate of the Ship Street site down to four options:
1. Green Gates Park land would remain a multi-generational recreational area, funded by Frodsham Town Council and the Green Gates Community Group.
2. Green Gates Park land would remain a multi-generational recreational area, with a small community hub.
3. Green Gates Park would remain as a multi-generational recreational area, with a multi-purpose community hub. This permanent, purpose built facility might be able to host Council offices and/or other public sector organisations, such as community nursing.
4. The area would be sold to a housing association for affordable homes, but with a stipulation that the development would include a play area. Revenue generated would be invested in developing and improving Saltworks.
The Options Appraisal Working Group is now planning to draft a document detailing its requirements for each of these options.
It will then engage professional support in drawing up designs for the four potential outcomes, as well as determining their cost.
The Group is now working towards a December deadline for the completion of these plans.
Cllr Hayes said that the Group is hoping to agree the preferred options for a public consultation with the Town Council in February, ready for it to open to local residents in March 2021 and close in May.
