Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team was out on Frodsham Marsh on Tuesday following reports of wildlife crime.
The Rural Crime Team was assisted by the force's drone and Motorcycle Unit to investigate sightings of a dog in pursuit and a vehicle driving on land.
Those involved were stopped, searched and interviewed using powers in relation to poaching and hunting offences. Officers discovered that they had no permissions to be on the land, or to hunt any mammals, or to use a vehicle in the area.
One dog was also found not to be microchipped. Its owner was cautioned and now has 21 days to comply in getting the animal microchipped.
According to the Rural Crime Team, enquires are on-going but both suspects are likely to be summoned in relation to Poaching/Hunting offences and offences under the Road Traffic Act, in relation to driving on land without permission.
Cheshire Police support legitimate pest control activity which complies with legal regulations, but people engaging in these activities must carry a copy of their permissions, a map of the area they are able to work in, and full contact details for the landowner.
