A member of staff from Frodsham Library has received national acclaim after winning UNISON's Local Service Champion Award.

Jenny Evans is a Senior Customer Service Representative at Frodsham Library and has worked for libraries for 40 years. Just one winner and two runners-up were selected from over 800 applications from local authority staff.

Jenny, who was nominated by her colleague Amanda Baron, said: "I started at 16 and I haven't stopped working and still have that buzz and enthusiasm. I'm only doing my job, which is what I've always done, and hope to continue to do."

Jenny's colleagues say she has transformed the library into the community hub, read stories to generations of children who now bring their own children to story time and she focuses and adapts services available when possible to provide essential help to the public. And when she can't help, she always knows someone who can.

Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: "Huge congratulations to Jenny on this prestigious award, it's a fantastic accolade. UNISON's Local Service Champions awards celebrate the invaluable contribution local authority staff make to their communities.

"The judges said Jenny's dedication and compassion for her role here in Cheshire West really stood out. Jenny, and the excellent team and partners she works with, deliver a first-class service for local people in Frodsham."
