New data released by Cheshire West and Chester Council shows that, in the Frodsham ward, cases sit at 244.55 per 100,000 residents.

Since March, there have been 74 confirmed cases within the town's 9,000 strong population, with 23 of those occurring in the past month.

With 10 new infections being reported this week, it is clear that Frodsham's coronavirus rate is accelerating.

Since September 1st, there have also been 18 new cases in Gowy Rural, but only 3 in Helsby, which appears currently to be the least affected ward in Cheshire West, with only 60 cases per 100,000 of the population.

Meanwhile, in Northwich, there have been 31 confirmed cases in the past month, putting the town's rate at around 160 per 100,000 people.

This follows a Cheshire West and Chester Council Outbreak Board meeting on Monday, where councillors called for heightened restrictions to be brought to the borough, in order to avoid the spike in cases that has befallen neighbouring local authorities in Merseyside, Warrington and Wirral.
