There were 17 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Frodsham last week, and 7 in Helsby

In the week commencing 5th October, Cheshire West and Chester Council recorded 17 positive Covid-19 cases amongst Frodsham residents, and seven in Helsby.

In the previous week, there had been seven positive tests amongst residents in Frodsham, and six in Helsby. These new infections bring Frodsham's coronavirus rate to 180.75 per 100,000 people, and Helsby's to 140.79.

Meanwhile, in Gowy Rural, which includes the villages of Elton and Ince, there were 20 confirmed cases last week, putting the coronavirus rate at 213.93 per 100,000.

In Sandstone ward, nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week, and the infection rate sits at 182.67 per 100,000.

The general rate for Cheshire West and Chester more than doubled between Friday 2nd and Tuesday 6th October, rising from 69 to 163 cases per 100,000 of the population.

On Tuesday (13th October), the Countess of Chester Hospital reported that one patient testing positive for coronavirus had died.

The government's new Tier Two restrictions come into force in Cheshire West at midnight today, meaning that residents can no longer meet people from outside their household or support bubble indoors.
