Frodsham and District History Society has just received £5,000 from the Marshes Community Benefit Fund to make its archive collection searchable.
The Society commits itself to encouraging interest in Frodsham's history and heritage. Through the efforts of its volunteers, it aims to make all of the town's important documents, photographs and artefacts accessible to local residents.
10 of the Society's volunteers are now working with Cheshire Archives and Local Studies, where they recently underwent training in Archives Skills, to make Frodsham's historical records more readily available to the public.
They are also studying the collection for any pieces that need conservation work.
The Marshes Community Benefit Fund was created in 2016 by Frodsham Windfarm Ltd. to provide an annual grant of up to £120,000 to local organisations and causes.
It aims to invest £3million into the community over the next 25 years and is managed by a panel drawn from local residents.
