FIRE officers put out a fire at a Frodsham play area last night.

A crew from Runcorn Fire Station was called out just before 8pm to tackle a fire on children's swings at Salt Works playing fields in Ship Street, which Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed was started deliberately.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "The crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for around 30 minutes.

"The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate,"

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 934168.
