Delamere Forest have announced that, from this year, they will no longer be selling Christmas trees, or hosting Santa in his grotto.

The Forest reported that, after a "challenging few years," selling the trees to the public is no longer a financially viable option.

"This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, and we are making it with heavy hearts," the Forest team said via their Facebook page.

"But please don't think this means your Christmas trip to the forest needs to be cancelled as the whole Delamere Forest team will be working hard to keep the festive spirit alive!"

Visitors will still be able to take wintery walks through the Forest trails, before enjoying festive treats in the new café. Staff also made mysterious reference to an opportunity to meet Delamere's "most famous resident" on their website.
