An online book of reflection has been introduced by Cheshire West and Chester Council, to remember all those who have lost their lives during the pandemic.

The book gives local people the chance to share their messages of reflection, condolence, hope and gratitude.

Leader of Cheshire West, Cllr Louise Gittins, said: "This devastating disease has claimed hundreds of lives in our borough, leaving family and friends mourning their personal loss, while the wider community mourns our loss as a society.

"The nature of Covid-19 means that, as a community, we have been unable to come together in our grief as we would usually wish to when faced with loss of this magnitude.

"We hope that this book offers an opportunity to do this, to share our thoughts and support one another during this incredibly difficult time.

"Throughout 2020 we have seen and experienced the power of communities coming together to help and support residents in need, as well as the inspirational support and commitment shown by the nation's tireless NHS staff and all key workers.

"This is why we also wanted to offer people a place in the book to say thank you to all those who have helped and are continuing to help us all through these difficult and unprecedented times."
