A local yoga instructor is planning a summer solstice sunrise event aimed at raising funds for Cheshire-based children's cancer charity, The Joshua Tree.
During the morning of Monday 21 June, Will Burton of Yoga and Healing Cheshire will be running a series of sessions on the top of Helsby Hill.
These will include meditation from 6-6:30am and 7:30-8am, along with vinyasa flow yoga between 6:30am and 7:30am.
"Standing on top of a mountain, the morning sunrise practice will be deeply personal, celebratory and healing," Will said.
"If you're a person who's tuned in to the out-of-doors, you know the serene, comforting feeling that accompanies spending time in nature. This sensation is illuminated by Yoga especially on the longest day of year."
Participants are welcome to take part in one or all of the sessions, and should contact Will via his Facebook page to book their place.
Through the event, Will is hoping to raise £500 for The Joshua Tree, which offers counselling, art and play therapy, health and wellbeing advice, home support and educational tutoring to families affected by childhood cancers.
In this way, the charity hopes to make life as normal as possible for those who are going through such a difficult time.
"Every year Yoga and Healing Cheshire holds a charity event and a lot of charities who depend on fundraising for their work haven't had the opportunity to raise money because of the ongoing pandemic," Will says.
"We chose The Joshua Tree charity because of the amazing and humbling work they offer, focusing on wellbeing and therapeutic activities including counselling to help families navigate cancer treatments.
"Cancer is something that you never think would happen to your children and sadly for some families this isn't the reality.
"I want to encourage everyone to donate even if you are unable to attend in person."
