Forestry England and construction firm Willmott Dixon have finished work on Delamere Forest's new visitor centre, which cost £9 million to develop.
The new building, which is the largest redevelopment project ever commissioned by Forestry England, aims to offer more spacious and extensive facilities for the Forest's 750,000 annual visitors.
The development includes: new access roads and improved car parking for 500 cars, a eco-friendly timber framed visitor centre, a new café and bike hire.
With the coronavirus lockdown preventing people from meeting indoors, this year Delamere Forest saw visitor footfall increase, and so view this centre as a welcome addition to Forest facilities.
Now, the Forest will turn its attention to upgrading the former visitor centre and café. The Forest's recreation team have not given an exact date for the centre's opening, but say it will be welcoming visitors soon.
