A new haberdashery and fabric shop has recently opened on Langdale Way.
Polkadot Pockets began life as an online retailer in November 2020, but now that lockdown has eased, owner Clare Thorpe is delighted to be giving customers the chance to browse through her materials, embroidery patterns, wool, knitting and sewing supplies in person.
Stocking both Clarke and Clarke and Fryett's Fabrics, Polkadot Pockets has a wide range of quality quilting, dressmaking, fleece, waterproof, and upholstery fabrics in all sorts of colours and styles.
Clare also offers a made-to-measure curtain and interiors service.
Although she has a background in prom and occasion wear, Clare has "always had a passion for fabrics and sewing, and so decided to concentrate on that.
"I felt that there was a need for a fabric shop in the centre of Frodsham, and I think we can create a community around the business."
With this in mind, Clare is planning to make use of Polkadot Pockets' outdoor patio space by offering sewing classes and coffee mornings for children and adults.
"We've been really busy since we opened, with lots of nice customers coming in to have a look at our fabrics," Clare continues. "It's great that people in Frodsham support local businesses."
Polkadot Pockets is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30am – 4:30pm.
You can find out more about the shop and its stock on the Polkadot Pockets website and Facebook page.
