Helsby Community Sports Club's new £4.5 million clubhouse is now entering its final stages of development, and is set to open in early 2021.

Duncan Cowley, of Helsby RUFC and Helsby FC, said: "I was given a tour of the site today by Councillor George Randles and the size of the place took my breath away. The 6 changing rooms are huge, the snooker room is immense then we have the massive bar, lounge and sports bar.

"However, the best feature in my humble opinion is the balcony where you can watch the tennis, football, bowls and rugby training from high above.

"The 3G football pitch and shock pads are to be installed shortly. The artificial bowling greens and tennis courts are also very impressive, and include pavilions for both.

"Plans for the future have already been discussed with areas already earmarked for a gym and sports hall.

"The dream and vision for the future is nearly here: the new Helsby Community Sports Complex is simply breathtaking. It's so impressive."

It is hoped that the opening of the new sports complex will further unite the community as they take part in all the sports and activities the clubhouse will have on offer.

In readiness for the opening of the clubhouse, Helsby FC are launching a new six-a-side Tuesday evening league with FA qualified referees. To get involved, text "Helsby INFO" to 07496 271368 or fill in the sign-up form on the website.

As a volunteer run organisation, Helsby Community Sports Club are always on the lookout for people to help the smooth running of their operations. If you are interested, you can find out more on their website.
