It's just four days until Castle Park Arts Centre reopens its galleries with the new Spring Exhibition from the Association of Animal Artists.
Running from Tuesday 13 April until Saturday 15 May, this exhibition presents a rich and varied collection of original art created by Association members.
Celebrating all walks of animal life, from the smallest of insects through to the largest of mammals, the pieces on display also roam over a range of artistic techniques and media.
"We pride ourselves on hosting exhibitions that are as diverse as nature itself" AAA Chairperson, Liselle-Fae Jackson told Frodsham Nub News.
"The AAA is one of the few animal art associations to encourage members to creatively explore the entire animal kingdom through any style or traditional medium.
"This spring we are exhibiting over 100 pieces of animal art featuring everything from bees through to elephants, and even a piece depicting the Bearded Vulture that took a detour through the UK last year.
"Spring, after all, looks very different depending on where you live!"
Liselle, who has a background in wildlife conservation, channels her own artistic talents into championing endangered or misunderstood species. She specialises in watercolour portraits of wild cats, striving to capture their enigmatic spirit and dynamic character.
"Like the majority of our members, I feel compelled to paint animals to reconnect people with the natural world and raise awareness of its plight," Liselle says.
"I approach my art with the intention to remind people how full of life and emotion animals are, and am constantly driven by my experiences in wildlife conservation and education."
"I'm exhibiting three paintings in this exhibition, and am so excited to see everyone's work hanging together once again!"
Through soft, flowing brush strokes, Liselle brings her intricately detailed subjects off the page, lending a wonderful tactility to their bristly or bushy fur and writing depth and expression into their soulful eyes.
All of the pieces on display in the Spring Exhibition will be for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to The Cinnamon Trust, a charity which supports the elderly, terminally ill and their pets.
"It was even harder than normal to settle on a charity partner this year," Liselle explains, "as the challenges of 2020 have hit animal charities hard and all are in dire need of support.
"We reached out to the Cinnamon Trust as our members really identified with their mission to ensure pets and their owners have peace of mind when the going gets tough. It's something that we felt was especially relevant in the current climate.
"They do an incredibly important job, and we really feel like we can make a difference by fundraising for them.
"We're extremely excited to be able to return to Castle Park and hold a physical exhibition in the wake of having to cancel our Spring Exhibition last year. Our members are eager to get their art up on the gallery walls once again!
"We hope this exhibition inspires all visitors to reconnect with nature and realise the unique beauty of the animal we share the planet with."
You can find out more about the Spring Exhibition on the Association of Animal Artists website, Instagram and Facebook pages.
Liselle's work can be explored fully on her website.
