Assurances have been given that Frodsham tip is not under threat of closure despite rumours circulating in the community.
Ward Councillors Lynn Riley and Chris Basey raised concerns in a Facebook video following the publication of a report into Cheshire West and Chester Council's new Waste Management Strategy.
But Frodsham MP Mike Amesbury has been offered reassurances after making enquiries with council leaders.
He said: "I have been in touch with Cheshire West and Chester Council chief executive Andrew Lewis and cabinet member Cllr Karen Shore in response to messages from concerned constituents who had heard the household waste and recycling centre site was under threat of closure.
"Both have assured me planning permission for the site will again be extended and there is no issue. It's my understanding ward members were involved in the decision to extend, as the current permission expires in August."
The Weaver Vale MP, who uses the facility himself as a Frodsham resident, added: "There is a longer-term plan for a better site at a more appropriate location, with more flexible opening hours. I hope the local elected members can get behind this ambition by working with the council to improve waste and recycling facilities in my constituency."
