Weaver Vale MP Mike Amesbury has written to the Transport Secretary in support of a scheme which could see new transport links introduced in Frodsham and Helsby.
Mike recently wrote to Grant Shapps about the Rural Mobility Fund which, if successful, would see Cheshire West and Chester Council receive a share of £20 million to trial new bus services and improve existing links in rural areas.
If given the green light, Frodsham, Helsby, Kingsley and surrounding areas would be among those targeted for the improvements.
The council has now been invited to submit a business case which Mike is supporting on a Parliamentary level.
Mike said: "The lack of public transport in Frodsham, Helsby and the surrounding areas has been a major concern for some time.
"Not only does this threaten livelihoods and young people's educations, but there are a lot of elderly residents in these areas for whom not being able to get around runs the real risk of creating social isolation.
"On top of that, we've had high street bank closures in Frodsham which means people have no choice but to travel out of the area, yet find the transport links are simply not there.
"Huge credit to the council for the work it has done on this so far and I will continue to urge the Transport Secretary to provide this much-needed investment in my constituency."
