Plans to deliver a walk-in Covid-19 test centre in Frodsham are still ongoing, according to ward councillor, Lynn Riley.

At a Frodsham Town Council meeting on Monday 23rd November, Cllr Riley said: "We had the green light to go and then unfortunately when they came to do the final survey the car park behind the leisure centre, which had been earmarked for this because of its proximity to the medical centre, was deemed to be unsuitable, largely because of the state of the car park and the many puddles in the very uneven surface.

However, she then added that, "We are working closely with a number of organisations to try and deliver a testing centre in Frodsham."

This comes as Cheshire West and Chester announce that their new contact tracing system will begin operating from tomorrow (Wednesday 25th).

Through this service, council staff will work from lists published by NHS Test and Trace, contacting people who were not notified within 24 hours of a positive test result.

Cheshire West Leader, Cllr Louise Gittins, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "We had informal working before with the NHS. Now we are using our own call centres so it will be more of a formal process.

"This is done in a proper, managed way. We are hoping as it goes on we will get more responsibilities. It was more ad-hoc before. Ideally the government wants more and more done on a local level in terms of targeted testing."
