This half term, Frodsham CE Primary School are embarking on a mammoth challenge to raise money for charity.

Collectively, the school's pupils and staff will aim to walk approximately 14.5 million steps, the equivalent of travelling from Frodsham to the Philippines on foot.

Through this sponsored event, they hope to raise funds to build a school for the children of Kimadsil, which is on the Philippine island of Mindanao.

The school council decided to begin this challenge after Frodsham's Father Michael visited the area and saw how much its children dream of attending school.

With 4km of tricky terrain separating them from their nearest primary school, they would have to undertake a four-hour round trip to get to and from their lessons.

This inspired Frodsham CE to help the children of Kimadsil access the education they deserve by raising the money to build a local school.

Frodsham CE's School Council have already collected £600 for this end through previous fund-raising events. Thanks to their sponsored walk, they are now £200 closer to their £1,000 target.

During half term, the children have put their daily exercise to good use, walking 212,582 steps for this worthy cause.
