It has been a long time since many of us were able to visit the theatre or see live performances. Last week families of Frodsham C of E Primary School were very lucky to be invited watch a socially distanced and outstanding performance of The Lion King by Year 6.

The children practiced daily, made their costumes from recycled materials and worked together as a team to put everything together.

With direction from their amazing teacher Mr Coates and TA Mrs Gardiner, the children did everything including set design and costumes, sound production, singing and dancing and acting.

The quality of the performances and the organisation of the show was a wonderful surprise to parents.

The innovative set required the audience to move around in a brilliant piece of interactive theatre, utilising the beautiful school grounds to create atmosphere and set the scene.

The sun shone and the audience were treated to a performance which was professional, funny, emotional and stunning to watch.

We had beautiful costumed dancers twirling in the sunshine, wonderful ensemble set pieces, cool but vicious hyenas, a baddy Uncle Scar to rival the original, a hilarious comedy duo, a pride of incredible lions and lionesses, fabulous solo singing performances and remarkable costumes, sound and sets.

In a year where they have missed out on so much, this gave the children an opportunity to learn about themselves and what they are capable of if they work hard and work together.

They have learnt teamwork, resilience, courage and confidence and gained a huge sense of accomplishment and pride.

Their teachers and staff at the school have put a lot of time and effort in to this over several weeks, so that the children could have this experience.

Families of the children were impressed and delighted and so grateful for the wonderful memories the children will take with them to high school.
