In the seven days up to January 7, the coronavirus infection rate in Frodsham and Helsby remained below the average for Cheshire West and the country as a whole.

In Frodsham, 35 new cases marked an increase of 14 on the previous week, putting the town's rolling rate at 382 per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, there were also 35 infections recorded in the area encompassing Helsby and Kingsley, making for a rate of 377 per 100,000.

In the same week, there were 1,934 new cases recorded in Cheshire West and Chester, where the general rate was 554 per 100,000 residents.

This sits just below the UK average of 592 per 100,000.

In today's CWAC Cabinet meeting, Council Leader, Louise Gittins, said that there had been signs that case numbers were beginning to plateau in our borough, but added that it is too early to know for sure.
